Florida

My family decided to make a quick trip to Florida last weekend. By quick trip I mean two days. The reason we went to Florida is because my mom had a stroke a couple weeks ago and her health didn't seem to improve. We decided to take my youngest brother with us to help drive and he turned out to be great company as well. 

I enjoyed the mini family reunion, and I after over a year a marriage my mom and oldest brother was able to meet Jim for the first time! 

When we arrived at the hospital and entered the NICU I found out that we couldn't take Zalen back to see mom. I felt so bad that he was so close to meeting his Grandma and couldn't even see her. My mom really wanted to meet Zalen too. The nurses told me he could get really sick if he went back there. 

I was really nervous about seeing my mom in such a poor state and when I did finally see her I almost had an anxiety attack because she looked worse then I thought she would. 

During our visit in Florida we made sure mom was comfortable and had some comforts from her home. I also did a craft with her. She LOVES doing crafts!

We didn't do any sight seeing in Florida but we did make sure to take a picture with some palm trees.

The nurse told me before we left that mom was starting to improve and that she could start rehab soon. I was so excited to she was getting better!

Zalen was a champ with the long road trip. He slept most of the way there and back! He usually hates his car seat. 

Since we didn't do any sight seeing we decided to stop at a couple of rest stops and take pictures.

I thought this picture was cute so I'm posting it. We went to Subway for one of our stops and Zalen kept eyeing my sandwich and trying to grab it.

Overall our trip went well. We visited family, heard good news about my mom, and made it safely back to home sweet home!
